I'm sick of politicians saying one thing in public and other thing in private. I know it goes on but that doesn't make it right. Walk the talk. Once-upon-a-time that was something that as a politician it was a good thing to do. In fact politicians were still getting up there telling us all about how they walked the talk right up until WikiLeaks came along and started showing that not only do they not walk the talk but in private they don't even talk the talk. And somehow the spin that has been put on this makes WikiLeaks look like it's to blame for publishing this stuff. I say WikiLeaks is doing a great job. Perhaps, if politicians knew that people could really see what they said in private they might actually start walking the talk. Politicians that weren't two faced - that would be an amazing thing. I'd be happy to have a representative that I knew told me the same thing as he told everybody else. I could trust him and in a democracy the idea is that you should be able to trust your democratically elected leader. If you can't trust them then how can you know that they represent your interests. How can you really have democracy. WikiLeaks has not yet been accused of any crime and yet numerous big businesses around the world have withdrawn their services to WikiLeaks. I think it's despicable. What happened until innocent until proven guilty? What happened to freedom of speech? What happened for the right of the public to know what their elected leaders are saying when it comes to foreign policy etc. These companies are big: Apple computer, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Bank of America, EveryDNS, Swisse Post. I'm ashamed of them and pleased to say that I'm no longer going to be dealing with any of them. |
